Moving a 175-Ton General Electric Turbine 300+ Miles
How do move a 175-ton turbine more than 300 miles?
According to Syracuse.com, the answer is “very, very slowly“. In fact, this massive turbine rerouted traffic and brought on a lot of attention earlier this year, finally arriving to it’s destination in Salem, Pennsylvania on February 21st. The newspaper reported that “the turbine is carried on a transport truck that measures 345-feet long, 20-feet wide which means it takes up two lanes. The truck has 16 axles and 128 tires.”
